Technical Information
A De-Ionization Tank (DI Tank) is filled with a mixed-bed of resin beads that are positively and negatively charged. The Total Dissolved Solids within typical tap water have either a positive or negative charge. As the tap water passes through the DI Tank (or DI Cartridge) the dissolved particles attach themselves to the oppositely charged ions and stay within the DI Tank (or DI Cartridge). The finished water continues on, 99.9% pure.

Depending on local water hardness a DI Tank (or DI Cartridge) will become saturated after a certain period of use***. The resin can then be regenerated in the DI Tank almost to its full capacity making the use eco-friendly at a fraction of the cost of new resin.

Key Benefits:
  • 99.9% removal of TDS (total dissolved solids), providing a "spot free" rinse for window cleaning

  • Portable and low fixed cost

  • 1 gallon of raw water produces 1 gallon of purified water

  • Own 2 to reduce down time in the field

Order a TDI Y connect separately
if you are using a deionized system.

Search Locally
Often DI system can be obtained locally by a local water treatment company (see Yellow Pages under Water Softening & Conditioning Equipment). We recommend you get quotes from more than one provider, since costs can vary. Regeneration is required with DI tanks.

Many window cleaners in Southern California discovered the benefits of DI water and "spot free" rinse in the 1980's. Today, a DI tank or cartridge is an excellent way to discover first hand the benefits of "spot free" water for a variety of cleaning applications, including window cleaning. Reverse osmosis systems (RO) can lengthen the life of your DI system, reducing your overall cost of water.

Use Reverse Osmosis or bottled water
to extend DI capacity
Many companies will first use reverse osmosis to get the ppm down in the 40-50 range and then run thru DI system.

Some companies will buy water from a local bottled water company that first purifies its water using reverse osmosis and then run thru DI system.

Capacity
To monitor the saturation point a DI Monitor is used. A small probe, screwed into the head assembly of the tank and connected to a purity light, gives an instant read-out if the water is good or is in need or regeneration (or replacement, if cartridge system in use).

low ppm (parts per million) 30-50 - parts of Oregon and Washington).

medium ppm (parts per million) 200 - Many areas of the country high ppm (parts per million) 600 - approximately 52 gallons before regenerating. Places like Arizona and New Mexico.

To determine how many gallons the system will deliver in your area, use the Hand Held TDS meter that comes with your system to determine the TDS (total dissolved solids) in your water supply.

The TDI 835 DI system needs to be kept in an upright position when transporting and using. A handy tip when using this DI system, is to purchase a good golf bag cart from a local sporting goods store. This makes it easier to move and keeps it handy for use. The angle the tank sits at on the cart is alright for use. If the tank is laid down, the resin will separate. This DI system consists of Cation and Anion strong base Resin and will need to be regenerated after “X” number of gallons of water. For regeneration of the resin bed, look in the yellow pages under Water Softening & Conditioning Equip-Service & Supplies. Not every dealer is equipped to regenerate DI systems.
